The Benefits of Skin Needling
Collagen Induction Therapy is a method which often involves going to a specialist. However, skin needling is a form of collagen induction therapy which can be carried out in your own house, in your own time; this makes wrinkles less visible, improves acne scarring and reduces stretchmarks.
A common factor in the formation of scars, wrinkles, stretch marks and uneven skin is a lack of collagen. Micro-needling stimulates collagen production in the skin, which minimises and even removes their appearance.
Skin micro needling is a process carried out with a skin roller that is covered with numerous tiny needles. These needles break the uppermost layer of skin and tenderly separate the pores of the skin. This method has two main advantages; it effectively encourages collagen production at the same time as providing a clear channel for topical gels and creams to be absorbed more effectively through the outside layer (epidermis) of skin. Skin microneedling creates a very small trauma which lasts for about one hour and doesn’t cause any broken skin or bleeding to occur in the treated area in the way that laser therapy or microdermabrasion do.
The microscopic punctures (which are often just the opening of the pores of your skin) caused by the microneedling, stimulate collagen production in the second layer of skin and it creates an appropriate environment for collagen and elastin formation. These key factors help the skin to cosmetically mend.
There are several alternatives to microneedling, and a lot of these require visits to a specialist. These include laser therapy and Micro-Dermabrasion. Using a skin roller at home is generally much cheaper.
