Supplying Our Home Gym and New Home
Despite all my years I still feel like a child inside. I have a hard time peering into the mirror and locating a real mature man. I might have believed the birth of my second child might have changed it, yet I still seem to be in self-denial of the aging process.
And regarding aging — or instead fighting it off — my wife and I moved into a new home and this house features space in its basement for a home gym my dear wfe has always wanted. But I am seeing dollar signs when I ponder all the large and tiny things needed, from the required but oft-forgotten weight benches and fitness mats to deciding on the most reliable of the many exercise bikes. Exercise bikes can be tricky now a days. Do you go recumbent or upright exercise bike? Should I go with an old-school analog or electronic?
And then my dear wife appears set on getting an elliptical trainer as well. Yes you understood that accurately. An exercise bicycle and an elliptical trainer — not just one or the other. My estimate is that it will go with the stretch mark cream she began using after she bore our youngest child. Oh boy I’m gonna get it for that joke.
I have to be deliberate with our budget because our new home is more of a fixer-upper. We desired it this way, but we still must cautiously budget everything, down to the knobs for cabinets (I’m not kidding). My wife has an ambitious kitchen cabinet refacing project projected, but must remind her the bathroom sink she wishes put in shall cost a fair amount, as well.
Gratefully, we both like the organic, rustic look, so we are furnishing our new home with furniture which is unfinished. Of course, it still requires a little polishing off, but we can keep the expenses down and create better furniture than we could purchase in any store.
I recently uncovered a nice with some decent, natural knotting and a couple console tables in matching mahogany. For our outdoor patio we’re considering outside fireplaces and we will go with some inexpensive wicker furnitures to start.
Providing for a brand new home seem so adult, but I cannot help but sense I’m merely playing house. The exercise equipment and furniture just feel like a new era of toys.
