My Crazy, Cool Grandmother
Next week we visit my grandma. I anticipate meeting her, though she has become a little stubborn in her later years. I won’t embarrass her by divulging her years, but let’s simply say she is a lady with thoroughly practiced wisdom.
The last time I visited her I brought my Yamaha keyboards so I could play her some music. She enjoyed it, but regrettably because she is not entirely there, she kept disrupting me to ask me how to clean her computer. Yes, she actually uses a computer. And perhaps she was disrupting me because I am simply that poor at performing with the keyboard.
I constantly find something bewildering at her place when I visit. Last time, I discovered several books on penny stocks on her coffee table. My granny learning about penny stock investing? That’s bizarre. I wonder what I’ll encounter on her coffee table this month.
This week will make for a busy sojourn. I have to put in her new Emtek door knobs and air conditioner filters then fix her garden cart. I additionally have to take her old pots and pans to charity as she recently purchased a new set of pots and pans to replace them. As a reward, she claims to also have purchased the best ice cream maker and the very best of all the electic coffee makers. I’m thankful, but I also have to laugh softly as she always claims to have or utilize only the very best of this or that.
If all proceeds well, she’ll utilize both to serve me some fabulous java at dawn and ice cream in the evening. That sounds like more than reward enough for my effort. I’m glad to help her out for nothing, but a little rich coffee and tasty ice cream doesn’t bother me.
